Have a problem, a question, or a suggestion? Email me directly:
I answer personally, usually within 1-2 business days. If it's a bug, tell me what happened, which device you're using, and attach a screenshot if you can.
This feature needs Apple Intelligence, and only works on:
Besides having one of those devices, check Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri, make sure it's turned on and that the model has finished downloading (it can take a few minutes the first time, and needs Wi-Fi). Inside SmartCardStudy, Settings (the gear on the Decks screen) > "Apple Intelligence" shows the exact status.
This can happen, especially with very technical content, poorly scanned text, or a language other than Spanish. Before studying, you can always review, edit, or delete the generated cards on the same import screen. If you notice a repeated pattern of errors, email me with an example.
Check this:
This feature depends on the video having public captions. If the video has no captions, the creator disabled them, or it's private or age-restricted, it won't work. Try another video, download the audio with another app and import it from the "Audio" tab, or use the "Topic" tab to have the AI build the deck without any material.
On both devices, check that:
If you just changed the switch, the change only takes effect the next time you open the app, so fully close it and reopen it.
If you had iCloud sync on before deleting, your data is still in your iCloud account: reinstalling the app and signing in with the same Apple Account should bring it back. If iCloud sync was off, the data only lived on that device and there's no way to recover it.
On the Decks screen, tap the + button (top left) > "Import from Anki (.apkg)" and pick the file exported from Anki. The same option is in Settings. Your content and study progress are imported; audio and images embedded in Anki cards aren't imported yet.
At the top of the Decks screen, the "Due today" card has a "Study all" button: it reviews everything due across all your decks in one session, alternating between them. To pick only some decks, use "Mixed session".
They show when the card will come back depending on your choice: "Good · 3d" means you'll see it again in 3 days. "Again" shows it once more a few cards later in the same session, so you review it before you finish.
Check this:
If you already reviewed it today, it comes back on its scheduled date. To review it anyway, use "Review all again" at the end of the session.
During review, tap the curved arrow at the top right (or ⌘Z with a keyboard on iPad). It keeps up to 20 steps of history. That history is lost when you close the app, so undo before leaving the study session.
Check Settings > Notifications > SmartCardStudy to make sure notifications are allowed, and inside the app, Settings (the gear) > "Daily reminder", to make sure it's turned on at the time you want. If your iPhone is in Do Not Disturb or a Focus mode at that time, it can still be silenced.
If you're reporting a bug, it helps a lot if you include:
